Stocking Stuffer Ideas

My favorite part of gift giving is the stocking stuffers. I give them to all of my family and coworkers. It is almost as much fun to get a cool stocking full of goodies as it is to open big presents.

This year make your stocking stuffers the most memorable part of Christmas. Use these ideas to find the perfect stocking gifts and have the coolest looking stockings. The bonus part is that most stocking stuffers are cheap. So you can give a really awesome gift that didn't bust the wallet.

I don't always use a traditional stocking. I find cute Christmas boxes or bags and fill it with funny or unique gifts.  Christmas baskets can also be used. 

Another way to use stocking stuffers is to use them on the outside of big boxes in place of a ribbon or to compliment the ribbon.  I do this with ornaments. I tape ornaments to big packages and then place a ribbon over it.

If you are going to use a traditional stocking, find one that will appeal to the person receiving the stocking.  If it is for a Harley lover, find a stocking with a motorcycle.  Stockings are made in just about any shape, size, color, or theme.  They make cowboy boot stockings, paw stockings, and more.  Look around before you just grab any old stocking.  

A great stocking stuffer idea is to pick a theme for everyone’s stockings. Find little gifts that fit the theme. Great themes are sports, animals, movies, or even zombies. Since my last name is Bacon, I think it is hilarious to find funny bacon products. These make great stocking stuffers for hefty meat eaters or vegetarians with a sense of humor.

Last year I picked the theme of fortune.  I bought fortune cookies and also found some evil fortune cookies that had misfortune slips in them.  I added chocolate gold coins, lottery tickets, and fake paper money as well.  The stockings were a big hit. 

• Buy a pack of toys or other items that have multiple pieces and give everyone one piece of it.
• Look at the splurge sections near the cash register. The checkout aisle is usually stocked with small, inexpensive items that would be perfect for stocking stuffers.
• Put the best stuffers in the toe of the stocking that way the best is last.
• Try not put anything breakable in the stocking or if you do, make sure it won’t break. Stockings tend to get jostled around a lot.
• You can put small, expensive gifts in the stocking instead of under the tree for a last gift surprise. Concert tickets, sporting event tickets, or jewelry make great stocking additions.

• Look for funny novelty items to put in stockings. Spread some holiday chuckles.

• For kids, get a giant stocking and fill it full of items from the dollar store.
